La Petit France is the country’s only producer of French handmade Brie and Camembert and is produced in Howick in the KZN Midlands. The culture and rennet are imported from France as well as the paper it’s wrapped in – so only the milk is locally sourced. It is enclosed in a permeable cover which ensures that methane (produced when the cheese ferments) doesn’t get trapped inside.The unpasteurised milk comes from a single herd of Jersey cows in the Midlands and contains no hormones, preservatives or stabilisers.

Heidi Engelbrecht from The Olive Pit and her husband, Stiaan, started farming with olives on their Hartbeespoort farm in 2007. Stiaan came from the Cape and always had a dream to farm with olives or grapes. What started off as a hobby turned into a fully-fledged olive farm with over 2500 trees. They literally started from scratch, planting trees and waiting for 5 years before they could get their first harvest. After 7 years the trees are in full production. Currently they have about 500 such trees.
